Rand Paul announced on Wednesday that he plans to introduce a bill that would balance the budget within five years. Paul says the bill will cut spending across the board while implementing entitlement and welfare reform.

“No more trillion-dollar deficits. No more adding to the $21 trillion debt that burdens our country and our children and our grandchildren. Adding to this massive debt isn’t what I signed up for, and it isn’t what people voted for.”

“I’m going to do it, and I’m going to force a vote on the floor of the U.S. Senate, and we’ll see who actually really does believe in balancing the budget.”

Mitch McConnell, a budget/spending leftist, has interests aside from the financial well being of the USA. He and his group will never allow such a bill to be considered.

Cut spending on everything but the four powers provided for in the Constitution. Shrink federal agencies by eliminating some right off the bat where states could do a better job (e.g., EPA), and dropping the other’s annual budgets 5 percent per year for at least 5 years.

There should be a convention of the states, as called for in Constitution. This convention should start process to amend Constitution to REQUIRE a balanced budget. Also should put in language REQUIRING tight accounting controls so liars in D.C. can’t fudge numbers.
