Parler must not want me to read their posts. They require everyone accessing their site to “register”. No matter the link, this is all I get (along with a login button).

“To the people complaining on Twitter about being banned on Parler. Please pay heed: Here are the very few basic rules we need you to follow on Parler. If these are not to your liking, we apologize, but we will enforce: When you disagree with someone, posting pictures of your fecal matter in the comment section WILL NOT BE TOLERATED Your Username cannot be obscene like “CumDumpster” No pornography. Doesn’t matter who, what, where, when, or in what realm. We will not allow you to spam other people trying to speak, with unrelated comments like “F**k you” in every comment. It’s stupid. It’s pointless, Grow up. You cannot threaten to kill anyone in the comment section. Sorry, never ever going to be okay. If ever in doubt, ask yourself if you would say it on the streets of New York or national television.”

HINT: That might be the only advantage to Twitter – anonymous access for non-registered readers.

I downloaded their app and intended to register but also refused to give my phone number.

Parler, are you crazy?!

FlyinPiglet
FlyinPiglet

If you downloaded their app, I assume you did so on a smartphone, so maybe they have your phone number already?

My Cut ☺
My Cut ☺

They use your phone # like every other site to send you a text with a code so they can verify you are not a robot.

They can send an email. I dont want them calling me.

Rednosam
Rednosam

They do not call, but they do use your cell phone number to send you a text as part of the registration process. This is used in addition to your email address. Both parts of the process are designed very intentionally to cut down on bot ‘users.’ The whole point of the site is free speech. Part of ensuring free speech is weeding out spammers who do not contribute to discussions. Hence, the more stringent registration process.

Ha ! Where’d you buy those rose-colored glasses ?

Twitter today is not legit.

OK, that makes sense. I give Parler a pass. Am I missing anything here?

ReD their terms. You can be open to a lawsuit if they are sued.

That’s what’s stopping me from joining.

At Twitter they block items with a warning box to click before view. Why couldn’t Parlor place warning boxes on all the troll/psycho entries so reader can ignore the usual suspect junk..

Dave’s Not Here
Dave’s Not Here

That is the problem with twitter. They put a warning over blm and Antifa attacking little old ladies as obscene and censor people from actual news. Those little boxes are not applied fairly.

TrustbutVerify

I would add, ask yourself if you have the cajones to say it to someone in person.

Before this Parlor was bigger than The cesspool that is twitter. This should really send it over.

Not sure the criteria of streets of NYC is an appropriate one. F U would certainly be used there and worse.

Sun King

On streets of NYC that’s a common greeting and a term of endearment.

As, in some circumstances, is a variant of ‘the N-word’.

I agree here with parler. You can disagree with someone but I do want to see someone pornografic pictures or cursing. We all deserve intelligent discussion. We ca have heated discussion but needs to respectful.
I joined Parler few days ago and I like it.

TRUMP 2020👍🇺🇸😊

That’s cool. I support your decision. I just don’t chose to give up as much privacy and freedom as you do in other to access Parler. I haven’t signed up for Twitter or F-book either for the same reasons. It means I’m not part of the discussion, but also not part of the product. It effectively locks me out.

Truth is, my issue isn’t really with Parler – it’s their model and their decision to determine how to operate it. I’d just prefer that I could read posts without being tracked, logged-in, etc. That just isn’t their model. Twitter does allow/accommodate that option – but bans conservatives!

One of the posts from the people banned –

“Respectable Lawyer
@RespectableLaw
Pretty much all of my leftist friends joined Parler to screw with MAGA folks, and every last one of them was banned in less than 24 hours because conservatives truly love free speech.”

The moron actually admits he got banned because him and his liberal friends came there to troll people and disrupt their free speech AND the morons printing the article were dumb enough to include his admission.

For those of you who are not on Parler. why? It is a better format and does not judge you on your content. If you use stupid language or threatening language you get dinged. You can spout any opinion you have, just be civil. Twitter and Facebook suck!

FlyinPiglet
FlyinPiglet

Are you using their smartphone app? Well, then you are open to being tracked – a step further than even Twitter or F-book. Correct me if I’m wrong, but that is what I see – and you asked.

Full disclosure: I’m not on twit, fb, tiktok (whatever), or any other “social” media. I comment on disqus, and CFP, and that’s it. My oldest Son told me not to get on Parlor. He did explain why but I don’t remember what he said, other than don’t get on it (he’s right wing). So, I’ll do what he said.

BigTex

Just use Gab.com – no “registration” required!

Personally, I hope that President Trump decides to post to all social media. That would force Twitter’s hand a bit. There are strengths and weaknesses with all of the platforms, but he and his team could use all of them.

Looking forward to Parlor not tracking. Would love to have read only. Until then, no thanks

You can block trolls, not sure why people get their panties in a bunch when some psychopath is ranting if they can be blocked they’ll just rant to no one.

Same with me here re:”Joe’s” comments: “I downloaded their app and intended to register but also refused to give my phone number.
Parler, are you crazy?!”

So when Parler drops the request for my private telephone number for registration, I might reconsider.

I didn’t give my phone number.

Totally caused my computer to seize up. Something going on there. Then they asked for my phone number! No thanks.
