Beautiful! You’re hired for the rest of it too!

Indeed. POTUS Trump should hire them for the rest of it. With $5 billion they could complete the whole thing.

It is a good job but it is only half a mile and the gate has to be left open during the day. Why are they sitting on the rest of their donations?

nuthinmuffin

that has now been changed…those were orders given by a deep state trump hater which have been revoked. and why don’t you get off of your ass and donate instead of complaining?

It’s 1.5 miles. This wall is on the U.S. side of the border. The Group that is saying the gate has to be left open can be taken to Court due to “national security risks of leaving the gate open.” There’s more than one way to skin a cat!

1) you think anyone is walking through in the day light?
2) it’s a half mile that had serious traffic from 5 routes
3) the gate is now closed during the daytime, try to keep up
4) its a half mile MORE than before…

you F-ing liberals are morons

Are you aware that since its on the US side of border, you dont need to cross the wall in order to be on US soil and claim asylum…… great job

I said it was a good job but it was only a 1/2 mile of Wall costing $6 million.

Beaver Believer

They moved 200,000 yards of dirt to do it too. And all those big yellow things that say “Caterpillar” on em? Those don’t come cheap. Even rental rates for a few weeks. Then you add the cost of materials, surveying, fuel, and engineering, and costs go up quickly. Give them a relatively flat, open section of the border and they would get much more than half a mile.

Mara

Obviously a lot more than a half mile was erected. Where do you get your news? CNN?

You think the leftists in local governments are lining up to allow permitting or helping in any way. They are not, including activist judges. That’s why the gate is open, because an activist judge cant get the concept that a gare can be opened and closed as needed.

Trump to Army Corps of Engineers: “You’re fired”

Trump to Fisher’s Industries: “You’re hired, sole source, primary project manager, now give me the cost and time estimate, project phases, and start/end dates.”.

Then Trump can offer Fisher a bonus if they can cut that timeline down to 6 months, start to finish. Split the project into six sections, and start escalating bonuses from 10% (finished on time, on schedule) to 100% (start to finish, within six months).

Hire a third company to do the Corps job of civil service inspections. Appoint a Tzar to streamline any permits or delays, taking problems directly to the President for E.O. overrides. Ride roughshod over the inevitable Federal Judicial injunctions; national security considerations trump Democrat “lawfare” by their Federal Judges.

This isn’t really that difficult a project. It just requires leadership, and intent. American industry has done much more difficult and complex projects than this, and done them quickly.

OldSaltUSNR

” Now why can’t gov’t do the same? “

They said that the Army Corps of Engineers had deemed building this section of the wall either not feasible or not cost effective. So, Fisher Industries with the help from WBTH funding, just did a practical, proof of concept project, on time, on budget, as committed, on one of the toughest and most needed sections of the border. Additionally, just like any other project, the first part is much more expensive than any other, as the tooling is created, proven, the equipment secured, and the crews trained. Delays and cost overruns on large, complex, government projects are the norm, not the exception.

I would expect that this will help Fisher with any future bids.

I had heard that Fishers Ind. had secured a contract to build something like 200+ miles of border fence, but then I heard nothing else. Honestly, I hear so much doublespeak about the wall and immigration from Trump and his administration, that I don’t know what the facts really are.

I agree with you: The Army Corps ought to let one contract for the whole wall, and let Fishers lead the whole friggin’ project. Then find another company to start building the 50 or so detention centers needed, in the American deserts. There is a reason that AOC called these “concentration camps”. If a wall is indeed built, and fake “asylum seekers” are held in detention centers rather than being bused into American cities, then the Obama/Soros/Democrat charade is over. Once the invasion stops, and the criminal aliens are deported in mass numbers, Americans will start noticing the difference in communities all across America.

If Trump can do this quickly, like within 12 months, then the Democrats can impeach Trump, call him names, or do or say whatever they want, because it won’t matter. The Democrat’s goose will truely be cooked. They were clearly wrong on national defense and foreign policy, clearly wrong on the economy (and plain old, Obama “magic wand” style capitalism), and clearly wrong on immigration. It will be three strikes, and then political oblivion for the Marxist Democrats. So, expect mass protests against the detention centers and the border wall, once it starts accomplishing the intended purpose. The illegal invasion will stop, because no one is going to walk 1000 to 2000 miles through the Latin American deserts, brave the cartels, petty criminals, and rapists, only to find themselves in an American detention center for months or years, before they are finally and inevitably deported home anyway, black listed forever from entering the USA illegally.

You don’t fight bureaucracy. You by-pass it.

LuckyChucky
LuckyChucky

My solution is simple… Just start TWO TEAMS from Fishers Ind.opposite sides of the wall country. Then award a bonus to the team that has constructed the most miles….. This was done when we laid the first railroad across our GREAT Country. The simplest solution is always the best.

OldSaltUSNR
OldSaltUSNR

@Lucky’s railroad plan

Not sure that would work, today, because of the Democrat’s well entrenched permanent bureaucracy and Federal judges. When they built the railroads across America, those companies were unfettered. They had their own law enforcement. They WERE the law, in most cases. If you set up two companies at either end of the country to do this today, there would be massive cost overruns and delays, plus excuse making by both company’s corporate boards and lawyers. Think “California High Speed Rail”, and you have some idea of the bureaucratic roadblocks.

The plan has to bypass bureaucracy and pre-plan the legal defense against the judges, which is specifically, “National Emergency”, a.k.a. war; stopping an invasion by hostile foreign nationals at our border. If they say “they aren’t hostile, they’re civilians”, just try stopping them without armed officers or troops. They are hostile to American law, to American sovereignty.

Once the contracts are let, and plan is put in motion, NO ONE STOPS IT, NOTHING except possibly a SCOTUS ruling stops it, and then at that point, the President would have to appeal to the people to take their government back.

MAGA4US
MAGA4US

But an “international agency” ruled that they have to leave the gate in it open. So it’s not quite a wall yet.

10 DAYS! Nothing short of amazing. How long would it take a government contractor to get this small amount of wall built – months, likely. Then, there would be overruns and time delays that would run up the price in a huge way and cost the tax payers much more than what was originally quoted. This is what is it to have a free enterprise, capitalist system in place and people with the will to make it happen!

KUDOS to the people that started this and to all that worked on the project. We should continue to donate and have this project move forward – I’ve donated, have you!?!

Needy citizens go without as Maine city opens arms to migrants:

by Paul Lepage

Yes, the generous people of Maine will help. But Mills is wrong about one thing: The state was not “dealt” this situation. Liberals, living in their echo chamber with their partners in the media, created this migrant crisis in Portland, and she played a role.

During my eight years as governor of Maine, I implemented major welfare reforms to limit dependence on government and grow our workforce. My goal was always to direct our limited resources to Maine’s neediest, especially our elderly and people with intellectual disabilities.

State programs that serve these groups have long had waitlists and despite my proposals to eliminate them by fully funding those services, the Democrat-led legislature instead used those funds to support Portland’s insatiable welfare programs.

Portland is a wonderful city, but its leaders are reckless. I heeded the wise words of Ronald Reagan, “If you want more of something, subsidize it; if you want less of something, tax it.” Portland’s leaders, encouraged by the liberal media, did not.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bostonherald.com/2019/06/21/needy-citizens-go-without-as-portland-opens-arms-to-migrants/amp/

john
john

…Numerous editorials in the Portland Press Herald not only hailed the immigrants as the only way to turn the state’s economy around but also advocated for non-enforcement of immigration laws and expanding welfare programs to virtually all non-citizens. In February, the editorial page editor proclaimed, “Portland has problems, now and looming in the future. But ‘overrun with immigrants’? Please. We should be so lucky.”

And a columnist, referencing the plan announced last week to warehouse migrants in a Portland sports arena, urged Mainers “to not look at what’s going on down at the Expo as a crisis and see it as a wise and warmhearted investment in our shared future.”

It’s a major investment, all right. In just the month of September last year, Portland paid more than $125,000 in General Assistance aid to 273 asylum seekers.

The leaders of Portland — and the liberal activists whose nonprofits benefit from state-funded contracts to serve these populations — know that to keep the money flowing, the state must pick up the tab.

While I was governor, then-Attorney General Janet Mills sided with liberal activists, suing my administration to ensure unfettered access to welfare by non-citizens. As a result, Portland likely has the most generous welfare benefits for non-citizens of any city in the nation.

Well, word gets around. Desperate municipal and state officials throughout the country, and especially along the nation’s southern border, viewed sending migrants to Maine as a means of alleviating a bit of the financial burden they are bearing. For the cost of a bus ticket, people are out of their shelters on their way to ours.

Of course Maine should be a welcoming state and we must help these newcomers, but we are also a poor one with many residents with serious needs still ignored by the liberals in Augusta. In addition to our waitlists, our nursing homes are closing. We have homeless veterans and homeless families who need places in shelters and affordable housing.

Now Portland is opening up shelter beds for asylum seekers while denying those same beds to Maine people in need.

Accepting and assimilating a mass influx of immigrants requires planning and resources. It’s hard work. Liberals in Portland wanted to be welcoming. But they made no attempt to plan for how to bring these people to Maine and what to do with them when they got here. It is bad public policy as well as unconscionable to attract people here with the promise of benefits and support that you cannot provide.

And their plan to have the state provide it, which Gov. Mills has vowed to do, is problematic, too. Her budget didn’t plan for a rainy day and spent virtually all the money Maine had in a massive expansion of government. Now people are showing up at our door.

Gov. Mills is going to have to find a way to solve this problem. It’s either going to be cut services or find more money.

She should have paid more attention to Ronald Reagan.
