Way easier to click the safety down, at least on my M&P 9. And doesn’t make any noticeable noise like cycling. Also doesn’t require two hands.

Get a pistol with a de-cocker. It’s fast and safe.

Yep, that’s what he was doing. That extra second can cost you your life. If you are afraid to carry an automatic with a round chambered, carry a revolver with the hammer over an empty chamber. Not ideal but you can respond quicker.

Some automatics like a Sig .45 have a half-cock feature, which makes it double-action without a safety.

But unless you practice thousands of times, your accuracy is horrible on that first shot…But then again, you have another 12 or so left to finish him off.

NOT IN JERSEY OR NY…. THEY ARE SITTING DUCK STATES. Only the criminals a carry large capacity mags. Makes a lot of sense, huh? After President Trump’s landslide re-election, he needs to implement a national reciprocity law – just like driver’s licenses, which are only a privilege’.. The right to keep and “BEAR” arms is a RIGHT!

Joe smith
Joe smith

No, automatic handguns are not like rifles. Wheelnguns or revolvers are not called automatic handguns. But those with slides and magazines that “automatically” feed the next bullet to the chanmber from the magazine is called and automatic. Unlike class 3 rifles which if called automatic are “machine guns”

Sideburns
Sideburns

That is a semi-automatic handgun, each time you pull the trigger a round shoots off. An automatic is a gun that shoots continually when you pull the trigger once.

shaker
shaker

Wrong..even though they “automatically” chamber the next round, they are semi-automatic. Trigger pull required for each chambered round. Unlike a Glock 18 which is a “TRUE” automatic, 1 pull of the trigger and you can empty the clip..

dang old city slickers and the language police can’t understand redneck terminology…. my pops taught me that a semi-auto pistol which automatically racks the next round, but still indeed does require a pull of the trigger per round to fire them, is colloquially referred to as an automatic, to differ it from a single or double action revolver or black poweder, or break barrel pistols or whatever else… but hey he only is the guy who puts satellites in space for the air force… sure he got no idea what’s up…. lololololol

Uncle Mike
Uncle Mike

I’m not thinking so…my quickest draw and shoot is only .04 faster than my draw, rack and shoot…and some are longer. I think due to the racking seems to settle my gun. And the accuracy is within an inch at 15 yards. This might interest you.

Seabee
Seabee

Wish to respectfully disagree Irish. I use a left-handed holster on my right side inside my pants in front of my hip. I don’t chamber around. I can pull that weapon out and rack it before it’s even all the way out of my hip and sight in on my target just as fast as other people at the range are only using the safety. To be fair yes this guy took way too long to do that you can tell he has not trained because he had to actually look down at his weapon just to get it to rack oh, that was the dead giveaway. Not saying it’s wrong to have one chambered I just prefer that extra level of precaution as I have personally experienced safeties getting caught on a shirt or when carried in the back like he has it movement in the car can disengage the safety. Just my preference
All of that being said this guy and anyone else who carries a weapon should learn some self-defense techniques on how to disarm someone with a weapon. It’s a lot more simple than you would think and you actually have quite an advantage over them. If someone is that close to me with a weapon I will not stand there and try to determine whether he’s going to kill me or not, or wait for an opportunity for me to pull out my own weapon. I assume if you’re pointing weapon at me you intend to kill me I’m going to disarm you.

Cantankerous Deplorable

Re: GLOCK – I actually prefer the Sig-Sauer 229 in .40 cal. It is ‘dead-on’ at any decent range.
The weight of the weapon makes it a bit kinder on old arthritic hands. Glock, too light for me – don’t like the ‘felt recoil’ on the carpal nerves.

OldSaltUSNR
OldSaltUSNR

SIG P320 in .40 cal. LOVE that short trigger reset. I’ve used double action hammer fired semi auto’s most of my life (plus my legacy Model 19 S&W six shooter). This is the first striker fired handgun that really felt right in my hands. Glocks never really appealed to me. I suppose if I had one with a re-engineered, tighter trigger, it might work better.

However, I’m probably going to use my P320 compact as my main carry for the rest of my life. I’ve bought and sold sub-compacts (M&P Shield was my last), but haven’t really found one I like. (Just big hands.) Of course, a sweetly configured 1911 .45 can’t be beat, either. Again, the one’s I’ve liked best had custom trigger work done.

I know what you mean about the steel (P229) versus the poly handguns. At this point, I like the lighter weight of the P320 poly, but obviously, have shot a bunch of 1911’s, Berretta’s, P226, and other metal handguns in the Navy. I thought in the first poly’s (Glocks), the lighter weight made shot placement a bit more problematic then the weightier, solid steel case traditional handguns. However, improved engineering and training (ahem.. ๐Ÿ˜) have overcome that. For a guy with arthritis and carpal problems, the extra weight would be a definite plus.

John
John

My Sig 226 is by far my favorite. Yes its a bit bulky to carry but my goodness that gun is silly accurate. Maybe the weight helps with that since its in a 9mm but that is my go to gun. Now my go to gun in the house is a tactical 12 gauge that I built (Rem 870), trust me you don’t want to come face to face with that beast…lol

Captain Caveman

Yep, big fan of the shotgun for home defense. My choice was the Mossberg 590, simply because it has a mount for the M7 bayonet. Invade my home and get the lead, the steel or both.

Probably going to piss some people off here, but the perp didn’t have a clue what he was doing and would have been disarmed by a trained officer. I am stating this since someone mentioned he was probably an off duty officer. If he was he didn’t appear to be all that well trained.

A trained officer would have seized the opportunity when the perp got his weapon within easy reach of his hands. If perp had any clue he would have never turned his back to the guy and insisted he get in front of him. Lucky for guy that shot him the perp didn’t know what he was doing. If perp did the guy would have probably of got shot since it took him several seconds to get his weapon ready.

Demsworstenemy

Trained officers are just minutes away at all times when seconds count. This was excellent, saved the taxpayers a trial cost, took out and enemy of civilization, saved the life of both the customer and the clerk. Great gun control too. Looks like the first round did the job since it was mid chest at Point Blank Range. A couple of backup shots are necessary to save medical costs and supplies that are needed for the CommieVirus19 treatments. Thank you dear CCW man!

Sounds like my life in NYC…..always vigilant. It would take about 3 days on a vacation in a remote area to be able to sleep with the window open. Once you have lived in NYC, it never leaves you.

Wayne Fisher
Wayne Fisher

No…a trained officer would have pulled his weapon…aimed it at the perp…and, maybe, would have given the demand to drop the weapon…but at the first inclination of the perp to point his weapon in the direction of the officer…the officer would have performed a mag dump on him. The officer would have made exactly zero effort to wrestle the weapon away from the perp under any circumstance. That’s just the way that works.

Any training worth its salt would teach you, as the good guy, to not get into a “quick draw” contest with someone who already has their weapon out. Instead, they’ll teach you to “pick your time” when the bad guy has his attention somewhere else so that you can “sneak” your gun out a get the advantage.

This isn’t a wild west TV movie thing…

Crackerzot

If the perp was no longer a threat, i.e., running away, then this guy would be in a lot of hot water in the U.S. But the victim was under no obligation to warn the perp of what was coming – and the perp was still engaging in an overtly hostile act that could have resulted in great bodily injury or death to either the cashier or the guy he had just robbed. I say, he’d most likely skate. BUT the shooter showed poor judgement though in not giving a rats ass about what or who might have been outside behind the perp when he started firing wildly. The fact that he went after the perp firing after the perp tried to flee after the first shot would complicate things though…

KAG

Guys, this was not in the US, so US laws do not apply. Also, I’d bet he was an off duty cop. Cops in Mexico, Central, and South America aren’t like here. They can pretty much do anything they want and nobody’s going to give a shit. No lawyers, no BLM, just justice dispensed one bullet at a time.
