Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Friday announced he would release more of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s emails — an openly political move on behalf of President Donald Trump ahead of the November election and a year after a State Department investigation concluded there was no “persuasive evidence” of widespread mishandling of classified information by Clinton or her aides.
A day earlier, Trump expressed displeasure that his top US diplomat had not yet released the emails deleted from Clinton’s private server, which she said in 2015 “were personal and private.”
“She said she had 33,000 e-mails,” Trump told Fox News on Thursday. “They’re in the State Department, but Mike Pompeo is unable to get them out, which is very sad actually. I’m — I’m not happy about him for that, that reason. He was unable to get — I don’t know why. You’re running the State Department and you get them out. But they’re in the State Department.”
In an interview with Fox News Friday, Pompeo said, “We’ve got the emails, we’re getting them out.” It is unclear if he was referencing the 33,000 deleted emails.
Asked if they would be released before the election, he said, “I certainly think there’ll be more to see before the election. We’re going to get all this information out so the American people can see it. You’ll remember there was classified information on a private server, should have never been there, Hillary Clinton should never have done that, that was unacceptable behavior,” Pompeo said.
“You can see, whether it’s Russia or China or Iran or the North Koreans who want to get their hands on this kind of information, classified information needs to stay in the right places. Secretary Clinton, when she was here at the State Department, did not do that,” he said.

I watched the segment from her show that was imbedded in the tweet, almost immediately after I was listening to the conversation between President Trump and Rush Limbaugh, from which the truncated quote was taken. She cut off his reasoning, thus ripping the dynamic out of his statement and making it seem “less so”. It’s ok, draw your own conclusions; that’s mine. Media can’t help themselves. Pompeo has done some great things, but I think it was clear by my comment that I don’t really know if he’s up to anything good, here. Shouldn’t all of this have been surfaced many moons ago? Curious that Sec. Pompeo would release these emails directly. I’m for that, but wouldn’t the protocol be if a Department Secretary has evidence that is critical to ongoing investigations of the FBI and Justice, to forward that directly to them rather than release them directly?
This is a positive move IMHO by Pompeo, almost assuredly with backchannel approval by Trump/Meadows.
At the least, will save taxpayers thousands of dollars in federal employee time using their “Ctl E, edit, font, black out” or whatever the routine is to “redact” important information we out in flyover country deserve to see for ourselves.

By all accounts these emails contain some degree of classified information. At the very least they’ll need to be reviewed on that basis.
If he wasn’t planning on releasing them, why make any announcement at all?
And how long does this process take? 3 hours? 3 days? 3 weeks? 3 months? 3 years? I’m betting on the latter.
One major factor is obviously the content of the emails. The other is the amount of resources devoted to reviewing them. And reviewers will need to have clearances at the highest level that might be in the emails.
It would be rather foolish to make such an announcement if the release wasn’t going to happen in relatively short order. Pompeo isn’t stupid or politically naive. If he wasn’t able to deliver them, or some substantial portion, why make any announcement at all? And there’s also no way he would announce this without consulting with, and taking direction from, President Trump.

Since Pompeo is Sec State, the implication is that a “foreign power” had possession of the emails. This would just show how compromised her having a private, unsecured server for official State Dept business was, and how the Obama foreign policy (such as it was) was countered on every move.
Hopefully they also provide “smoking gun” evidence of her selling her (and maybe VP Joe, too) office in return for official acts benefiting foreigners.
Since Hillary was SecState when she sent them, and Pompeo is now, it’s possible he was able to dig them up from some internal DOS source. But, if not, whether the source is US-based or foreign, it’s quite an accomplishment that he’s been able to find what so many had given up as irretrievably lost.

About the China bashing, that’s Pompeo’s role as part of the “good cop, bad cop” routine. His focus is on foreign policy and China is undoubtedly the #1 issue there. Commerce Secretary Ross and Asst. to the President Navarro take point on economic issues, and POTUS puts it all together as he sees fit. Also, POTUS rarely misses an opportunity to bash globalists as that’s at the very core of the MAGA message.
